Head Start Professional Learning Days, April

DPS Head Start Professional Learning Days 2017-2018
Half-day mandatory training for all Head Start teachers, paras and central office staff
Dates:  September 22nd, October 13th,  February 16th, March 2nd, April 20th

Decision to cancel class or schedule substitutes for Head Start teacher and para is school-based. Allocation of 8 sub days for teachers to complete Head Start required activities

Activities to be completed on the second half of the training dates and the 8 sub days:

  • ESI Screening
    • Required within 45 days of enrollment- by October 5 for students enrolled the first day of class
    • Required within 45 days from date of enrollment for all other students
  • Two Home Visits
    • One per semester, per child
  • Two Parent-Teacher Conferences
    • One per semester, per child
  • Individualization meeting with Head Start Coordinators
    • One in late fall
    • Second is optional in early spring
  • Other Head Start responsibilities include
    • Individualization plans
    • Home visit plans
    • Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation
    • Disabilities collaborative meeting report
    • Other Head Start specific paperwork
