ELA 105B: Sheltering, Fall 2017 Sections

Please note that this is a 4-week hybrid course requiring the use of laptop computers for all mandatory face-to-face sessions. This 16-hour hybrid course provides practical strategies for adapting instruction to support students as they simultaneously learn content and increase their level of English language proficiency. Teaching rigorous content to students who are developing English language proficiency requires intentional instructional moves. This course will enhance participants’ abilities to implement techniques that are critical to the academic success of English learners (ELs). Strategies covered in this course are deeply rooted throughout the instructional indicators of the Framework for Effective Teaching (LEAP).

Participants will:

• Demonstrate the ability to incorporate strategies to support English learners’ content learning.
